We recieved an email to the show from a guy called Tom Whitnail from Cork, a young lad who has been through 3 year's of Chemotherapy hell. A few years ago the "make a wish" foundation flew him to Copenhagen to meet Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, his drumming hero.
Chad was, as you would expect, a total gentelman. He took Tom backstage to play his drums and just hang out. Tom said it was the boost he needed to get him through the treatment.
Three years later Chad is in Cork and Tom contacts us to see if he can meet him, " just to thank him for everything ". So Tuesday evening we head down to the Chickenfoot sound check, 2 hours later Chad comes over and it was like seeing old buddies greeting each other.
They say never meet your heroes, you will only be let down, bollox.
Chad Smith, your a true rock legend gent.
